What is a Dome?
What is a Dome
A Monolithic Dome is basically shaped like a dome, though frequently with some variations. Our Dome construction uses an innovative process to produce a "MONOLITHIC" Dome, a single piece, seamless structure. The base structure contains openings for windows and doors, and extended portions of the dome to facilitate attachment or passage to other domes or existing structures. Larger floor areas are created by either building two or more domes adjacent to each other as an option to a larger single dome. The possibilities are endless.
Let's fully understand the Monolithic part of this, in case you are not sure. Monolithic is defined as: cast as a single piece; formed or composed of material without joints or seams. Our Dome is fabricated of concrete, sprayed continuously over the entire dome structure, thereby eliminating any seams or joints.
This method of construction results in a much greater building strength which is totally sealed against water and air leakage. The Dome's shell is composed of steel reinforced concrete, an outer layer of Polyurethane foam, then covered with a heavy PVC skin. Additional exterior coating material over the skin is optional.
The fun has just begun. As our tour continues, you will see how this type of structure offers security, strength and efficiency far beyond that of any other construction method.
